Norway hosts the International Contact Group (ICG) for Afghanistan

Norway is hosting a meeting of the International Contact Group (ICG) for Afghanistan in Oslo on 12 December 2017.
The meetings take place twice a year and are an important forum for coordinating the broad international engagement in Afghanistan. About 80 representatives from around 50 countries and organizations will participate, including from the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU). The meeting opens by Foreign Minister H.E. Wegger Strømmen, Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Hekmat Karzai and Germany’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan H.E. Markus Potzel.
“Norway has a long-term commitment to stability, peace and development in Afghanistan. The meetings in the contact group emphasize the importance of maintaining good dialogue with other countries and organizations that support Afghanistan, says Secretary of State Mr. Audun Halvorsen.
Mr. Halvorsen met with Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister in the Foreign Ministry on Monday 11 December 2017.
