Foreign Minister Atmar Conveys Congratulatory Message to Foreign Minister Søreide on 58th Anniversary of Establishment of Afghanistan-Norway Bilateral Relations
Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar congratulated Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Soreide of Norway on the 58th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Norway.
In a letter addressed to his Norwegian counterpart, Foreign Minister Atmar stated that the historic bilateral relations between the two countries are underpinned by friendly and cordial ties, cooperation and an abiding commitment to advancing common values for the mutual benefit of both countries, as well as for global peace and security.
He highlighted Norway’s important contributions in Afghanistan as being an important factor for the many foundational gains achieved in the country in the past two decades.
Foreign Minister Atmar further stated that Afghanistan took great pride in the expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries in the past several years and looks forward to further strengthen this partnership in several areas, including political and security cooperation, development, governance and economic cooperation.
He conveyed his gratitude for Norway’s re-affirmation of support for peace, stability and prosperity in Afghanistan at last month’s Geneva Conference, as well as Norway’s continued support for the peace process which seeks to achieve a just, dignified and lasting peace that preserves the social, economic, political and many other achievements, jointly made by Afghanistan, Norway and other international partners.
