Afghan Embassy Celebrates 98th Anniversary of Independence in Oslo
The Embassy of the I.R. of Afghanistan in Oslo hosted a reception on the occasion of the 98th Anniversary of Independence of Afghanistan in Oslo. The officials from the government of the Kingdom of Norway, ambassadors and diplomats of foreign missions in Oslo, members of organisations and think-tanks and members of Afghan diaspora in Norway participated in the event held on 21st August 2017 at Ekeberg Restaurant, Oslo.
At the beginning of the program, the national anthems of the I.R. of Afghanistan and the Kingdom of Norway were played. During an address, H.E. Mrs. Shukria Barakzai the Ambassador of the I.R. of Afghanistan in Oslo talked on independence and the importance of this day. She praised King Amanullah Khan as the champion of the independence and modernity, and said that the implementation of the reforms and plans of his era, is one of the crucial wishes of the current Afghan generation. Ambassador Barakzai also mentioned Queen Soraya the wife of King Amanullah Khan as advocate of women’s rights and education who would regularly advise the King in all matters.
On behalf of the Government of Kingdom of Norway, H.E. Mr. Velde Helgesen, the minister for climate and environment congratulated the people of Afghanistan for the 98th Independence Anniversary and spoke on the importance of Norway’s relations with Afghanistan. Minister Velde added that the government of Norway would continue standing beside Afghanistan in pursuing the goals of peace and stability in the country.
